Thoughts on Parenting

Dave,
I enjoyed reading your words on parenting. I can't help but think of all the parents who have yet to grasp the concepts of God that you mention wanting to instill in Solomon. The second greatest teacher after the Word is the parent and if the parents don't get it, how can we hope for our kids to grasp the things of God. Kids are amazing at emulating what they see in their home. When you take a family of "cultural" Christians who are not seeking God or seeking to follow Him, they turn out half-baked "spiritual" embryos if there are no other interventions along the way.

Being a beginner parent, I honestly don't know how to do it but I do know that God desires our children to come to Him. The only way I know for that to happen is to allow God to use me, with all my faults and failures, to show my kids how a Godly person should react inspite of countinuous failings. If I'm transparent with them, they should be able to see the Lord of my life living within me!
