Disciple Now Weekend 2008
I am excited about the Disciple Now weekend coming up on October 3-5 for the students at Richland Creek. Our theme this year will be No. 119 as we focus on the Word of God as a vital part of growing as a believer. With (3) General Sessions and (3) Small group sessions, along with an afternoon of recreation, more than 40 volunteers, Josh and Tasha Via leading worship, and 100+ students, this is going to be a great weekend.
The general sessions will focus on three of the Hebrew letter sections from Psalm 119 that teach "Hunger for the Word," "How to Know God through the Word" rather than just knowing about Him, and the affect "Obedience to the Word" has on one's life.
The small group sessions will be practical application to help guide the students in taking God's word into their lives. Direct how-to's on reading, memorizing, meditating, and studying the scriptures will help train our students to be "self-feeders" on the word of God rather than students who have to be fed.
Our hope is that God will renew and revive a passion for His Word among our students. That their lives will be reflective of the truths they take in on a daily basis. May they be committed to knowing God not just knowing about Him.
Thanks to all the volunteers who are sacrificing their weekend in hopes of seeing our students mature in the faith!
